Different Recordings / PIAS on 12″ and download 18/4
Imagine living legend acid house pionner DJ Pierre locked together with one of today’s most innovative producer Kris Menace ….what do you get? Something MASSIVE !
After spending some time in studio the results is 2 amazing and outstanding tracks, bringing an oldschool vibe into the modern world of today. Leading track “alpha omega 2012″ featuring vocals from DJ Phuture is a huge acid & techno monster while the second , “Crank” brings a deeper and groovier oldschoolvibish house monster…
Both tracks are backed up with solid remixes. Alexander Maeir reworked Crank in a very deep house vibe and Angel Alanis went back to the essence of techno for his remix of Alpha Omega 2012.

1. moments of excellence feat. holy ghost! – aeroplane remix
2. moments of excellence feat. holy ghost! – holy ghost version
3. express
Release Date. 29 April 2011 – Permvac077-11 on Permanent Vacation
As so often in history the best things happened by lucky accidents: When Holy Ghost! first heard Black Van’s (Kris Menace and Kowesix) single “Yearning“ they noticed that is has the same tempo and key as their song “I Will Come Back“. Two six packs of ale later the first Holy Ghost! Black Van Mash Up was born, with the instrumental of “Yearning“ and the vocals of “I Will Come Back“ on top.
Both, Black Van and Holy Ghost!, were so thrilled by the result, that they planned to work on an original song together. Originally the vocal version of “Moments Of Excellence“ was supposed to come out on the first Black Van EP for Permanent Vacation, but due schedule problems it didn’t happened. It was worth to wait we can tell you: Holy Ghost! not only added their blinding vocal performances to one of the most played disco anthems in recent months, but also chipped in some lovely bits and pieces and additional drums to make this a whole new next level experience.
But wait there is even more: to complete the holy trinity of disco superstars, also Aeroplane stepped in the ring, to reveal one of his finest remix works to date. After Black Van has remixed the Aero- plane single “Without Lies“ Vito is paying things back with turning the original into a blazing, skank- ing half time monster, whose shiny synths bring you directly to the “neon beach“.
To put cream and cherries on top you can flip the record over to discover a brand new Black Van track. “Express“ is a slow and spicy disco nugget, which proves once again why Black Van is one of the hottest tipped names in the game right now.
:::
The new “BLACK VAN” single “MOMENTS OF EXCELLENCE” & “THE CALLING” is out now
on permanent vacation!
BLACK VAN is the coming together of KoweSix and Kris Menace. Independently of one another, they have chalked up countless singles, artist albums, mix compilations and remixes for various heavyweights. BLACK VAN sees the duo creating music that massages the cerebral lobes whilst making sure your ass still shakes. BLACK VAN’s music is an elegant swagger moulding their varied and whimsical musical tastes – from ancient BBC electronica to eccentric songwriters and avant-garde Lego House – into classic song structures. Honouring their debut release, entitled “Yearning” (which rapidly became one of the bestselling DFA tunes in recent years) a number of magazines and blogs have already highhlighted the duo’s unabashed pop asthetic. The names of ideal collaboraters are doing the rounds – and rumours of a team up with DFA’s hotly tipped Holy Ghost! have already surfaced on the net. Already in the Big Tunes chart of Mixmag magazine, plus support from Tensnake, Rub’n Tug, Lexx, Aeroplane, Horse Meat Disco, Sasha, Mylo, Pete Herbert, The Glimmers… James Holden: moments of excellence, the title suits the track. Bottin: lovin’ it! Joakim: great deep disco cut for the clubs, i played it at every gig last week end! Social Disco Club: Love “The Calling”! Lexx: great release. Played it at Zukunft, fantastic response, a hit !
NEW BLACK VAN REMIXES
THE GLASS – FOUR FOUR LETTERS (BLACK VAN REMIX) (plant music)
AEROPLANE – WHITE LIES (BLACK VAN REMIX) (eskimo / wall of sound)
Menace – “Hz & Tones” is out now on Fake Blood´s “Blood Music” Label.
Fake Blood: “This is the darker side of Menace, those of you who loved ‘Scaler’ shall rejoice…. you now have their successors. Big room techno with authority – forward thinking tracks populated by large sounds, and executed with a tight bottled up restraint; but moreover – real Menace. The two tracks you have here are probably Kris’ best work to date, in my opinion – Really amazing, original, and fresh. I have played these in cities far and wide, and have been hounded for the names. When the drop occurs in “Hz And Tones” the cheer in each place has been spectacular. So, enjoy the Menace. I guarantee these will peel the roof off.”

You may have heard my latest remixes like for Depeche Mode ‘Fragile Tension’, Monarchy ‘The Phoenix Alive’, New Young Pony Club ‘We Want To’, Benny Benassi vs. Kelis ‘Spaceship’ or Kele (of Bloc Party) ‘Tenderoni’. My German friends should also have heared my remix of Xavier Naidoo´s ‘Ich Brauche Dich’. Most of these can be streamed on this website. Watch also out for the new Remix of Kylie Minogue´s “Get Outta My Way” and the forthcoming remix i´ve done for Oliver Koletzki´s ‘Echos’.
Some original production news now… My next release is called ‘Masquerade EP’ which features 2 Tracks, ‘Swarm’ and ‘Lockhead’, a track i did with my close friend ‘Douze’. The EP will be released on Steve Angello’s ‘Size’ Label!
I´ve also teamed up with future UK star ‘Emil’ and our version of The-Dream’s ‘Walkin On The Moon’ (based on the U-Turn Bootleg ‘Walking On Lightning’) will be getting a full release with an amazing video after the summer.
Last, but not least, Black Van´s next Release is called ‘Moments of Excellence’ and will come on the label ‘Permanent Vacation’. Under ‘Black Van’ we also just remixed the new single of New York based band ‘The Glass – Four Four Letter’ and we are also working on a Remix for the forthcoming ‘Aeroplane’ single.

Regarded as one of the finest producers and DJ’s of his time, Kris Menace is just as likely to get support from Erol Alkan, Soulwax and Boys Noize as he is from Aeroplane, Sasha, Tiesto and Pete Tong.
It’s this perfect balance of underground credibility and widespread accessibility that has seen him able to carve a niche for himself as a hugely respected figure in electronic music and maybe one of the busiest remixers alive.
Kris worked with Alan Braxe, Felix Da Housecat, DJ Pierre, Steve Aoki, Princess Superstar, Rex the Dog, Spooky and as a remixer he can list the likes of Depeche Mode, Robbie Williams, Kylie Minogue, LCD Soundsystem, Royksopp, Booka Shade, Underworld, Moby and Air as just some of the acts that have demanded his remix talents. As an A&R and label boss he’s known for his two great labels, Compuphonic and of course, Work It Baby, where he nurtured artists such as Fred Falke.
Menace’s debut single, “Discopolis”, w/ Lifelike, released on Alan Braxe´s Label “Vulture Music” became a huge Ibiza & House anthem. After one of the most downloaded tracks on Beatport named “Jupiter” and follow releases, 2009 saw the release of a ‘Best Of’ 3 CD set entitled “Idiosyncrasies”. A triple disc collection of classic tracks interspersed with fresh new productions, collaborations and some of his best remixes.
In 2010, Kris collaborated with KoweSix to create the Project “Black Van”, which was signed to LCD Soundsystems Label “DFA” and “Permanent Vacation” and became Beatport nominated as Nu-Disco Track of the Year and therefor one of the most downloaded Nu-Disco Tracks of 2010.
